The guys enjoyed a wonderful day of fishing at the Cove on Fish Lake along with lots of friends from the Upper Valley Connection group. We took home loads of fish, were spoiled by Whitney West's crew of family, friends, and the Trout Unlimited guys.
After a full day's work the amigos love to play hard too. You may see them swimming in the local pool, getting an ice cream sundae downtown, floating the river, or even trampolining with friends! It's wonderful to enjoy life with friends.
What 2 letters do pirates love? R (arrghh) and C (sea)! Hope you enjoyed that bad joke. (: "Yo Ho" from your favorite cast members of Peter Pan! We've recently come from a wonderful week of theater camp, June 24 through the 29th. This is one of three musicals the Icicle Players has rotated through. The 115 member cast and crew are primarily from our valley and part of the vision of Upper Valley Connection. The Friday night performance and Saturday matinee are the climax of the week. This year they performed to packed houses on the Cascade High School stage and received standing ovations! Way to go guys. In case you were wondering who the guys played in the show... Christopher was Mr. Darling, Eric was a lost boy, Alex was the TIC TOC Croc, and Matt and Chris were pirates! Four different afternoons of theater camp were spent in special activities including: a bbq and hayride out at Redtail Canyon Farms, swimming at a private pool, and specially planned events with the creative staff of Tierra. Thanks to all who helped in camp and for all of you who came to support our actors. If you've never attended... I hope you will plan for it next year on the last weekend of June. It's something not to be missed.
Recently Jordan and Olivia McDevitt and their sweet family left for Africa on a short term mission. Just before departure we had the privilege of having them over for lunch to send them off with lots of love, prayer, and Amigo made rainbow jump ropes. Jordan serves faithfully as the leader of our board of directors at the Dwelling Place and they are a big part of our lives. What a blessing it was to see this picture of Olivia, Iba (Kaziah), Grace, Titus, and new friends enjoying the rainbow ropes half way around the globe.
One of the amazing volunteers at the Dwelling Place is Mary Chott. For the past 9 years she has come to the Jump Rope Shop and has helped with making starts, tying off, and keeping everyone laughing. What started as a small gift of time as grown to 3 to 4 hours a day, 5 days a week! We completely missed her birthday on a weekend in April but she picked today, June 5th, as a day we could properly celebrate. Today we partied with a luncheon in her honor, with special guest and her sister, Laurie O'Brien. We couldn't be more thankful for her daily gift of time and love. She is a blessing!
This last weekend Eric and Chris represented The Dwelling Place at the State Special Olympics in Fort Lewis. Chris took home 3 golds in cycling and Eric took home a gold, a 6th and an 8th place ribbon in swimming! Way to go guys. This is their great athlete/super hero/ "heavy medal" pose in their new team gear. A great time was had by all. For more pictures and news check us out on our Facebook page, "The Dwelling Place"
A great day at The Dwelling Place when visitors come and share a little time with the Amigos. Here's "Uncle Alex" playing the drums with nephew Carsen.
The ski jackets are dry, the skates put away and smiles abound as the Amigos share the victories of the Special Olympics State Games with all in our community. (Even ski coach John medaled in the Giant Slalom Unified Race!) Check out the MORE tab above and find photos from the weekend...with more being added.
In just a couple weeks, the swim suits and bikes come out for Spring Special Olympics. The beat goes on!
